We stopped for lunch, finally, at the midway point in Medieval Land. They had opened the full restaurant, which looked like an old tavern or inn, for us. As we entered the courtyard, Connor got another surprise. We were greeted by his favorite characters. Iâd spent all day smiling. Everyone had had fun, but most of all, I enjoyed watching how happy Connor was.
I looked around for Bob. âDid you arrange that one too?â
He shook his head. âNo, that was a request by Aleksei, and Enrique took care of it.â
Enrique stood next to Bob with a smile as he too watched Connor. Yoshi and Shura were talking to them too. Shura had been the most animated through the morning than I had seen them be in a long time. It was nice to see them smile so freely.
I looked back at Aleksei, who bent over with an arm around Nigel. Through the first part, we realized Nigel wasnât up to as much walking as heâd thought and Leo as well, so we got a golf cart that Aleksei was driving them around in.
In between rides that they couldnât go on for health reasons, Connor would ride with them and tell them all about the ride and which part he liked most. Nigel and Leo were becoming fast friends, which boded well if Leo moved to the mansion. They were about the same age.
âWe should get Leo and Nigel out of the cold.â Bob nodded in agreement with me, and we walked over to the cart. Dmitry was talking to The Haitian, whom we started calling H. It annoyed me that he still didnât trust us with his name or at least a name. But apparently, not even Connor knew any of his names and wasnât bothered by it.
Jasir was talking to JP and a few of the other guards. Despite Connorâs dictator ways, weâd had fun and made excellent time through the park. Maybe he should be Alekseiâs successor instead of Yoshi. They were both being groomed for it.
Bob helped Leo into the restaurant as we followed behind Aleksei. We were led into a large room with two long tables. They were heavy wood tables with high back chairs. The room looked like it came right out of a movie set from a small lordâs castle. I knew when Connor walked in because of his happy Oos and Ahs. There was a large fireplace that had a real fire in it. Connor was disappointed because the chateau we were staying in had converted from wood to gas fireplaces, which in his opinion, were not as efficient.
As soon as we all got settled in, several servers came with water and asked what we wanted to drink. The one that looked like he was in charge spoke to Aleksei before he could sit. I couldnât hear what they said, but Aleksei nodded and the server left. Aleksei clapped his hands to get everyoneâs attention.
âTo accommodate our large group and the fact that theyâre only open to feed us, we had agreed on a fixed menu.
